This bathroom was added where one did not exist and was part of a Craftsman-style remodel in the Coventry Village neighborhood of Cleveland Heights, Ohio.
During the conceptual phase of the Design & Planning Agreement we decided that the kitchen should be moved to the sunny, south side of the house into an awkward and underutilized room. Having designed the new kitchen location the old kitchen location freed up space for a minimalist bathroom, back hallway and Butler’s Pantry. A poorly designed bathroom elsewhere on the first floor was removed and this new bathroom was built where the breakfast room and part of the kitchen had been located.
Initially the plan was to include only a half bath but, after further discussion with the homeowners, we discovered that they had been using the shower in the old (scheduled to be eliminated) first floor bath to wash their dog. Since the new bath was going to be built just off the backdoor mudroom we designed in a shower that is 36” X 42.” It’s now a full bath that doubles as a doggie wash for Floyd, the homeowner’s shaggy, mud-loving,75 pound Labradoodle!

“The design choices that Jim made were amazing. He led us in a direction that maintained the character of our old home, but with top quality materials. Bob Humbert is a valuable member of the Karlovec team and his craftsmanship and project management are top notch.”
