Yes, this is a Shaker Heights, Ohio half bath renovation project but what set the stage for the bathroom upgrades was much more complicated. The bathroom is under the winding main stairs that go to the second floor and that all sits in a 1927-built turret that had significant issues.
On this historic home restoration project we completed a full assessment of exterior and interior issues throughout the front entry, main stairs and the bathroom, all of which are inside the turret which projects off the front of the house. The assessment, and subsequent restoration, included replacement of the wood shingle roof, radius gutter, stucco and masonry repair, rebuilding of stained glass windows, repair of the front door entry system, painting and more. After making the exterior water tight and completing historically accurate repairs, we then completed interior, large scale plaster repairs which included matching the original texture, tile restoration and painting.
Project: | Half Bath, Foyer, Staircase |
Location: | Ingleside Road Shaker Heights, Ohio |
Built: | c. 1927 |
Challenges: | Very small, cramped half bath; toilet position; radiator location; water damage at exterior wall. |
Features: | Corner toilet, granite counter and sink skirt, undermount sink with corner-mount single hole faucet, custom built-ins. |
Comments: | The custom built-ins on the window wall was an ingenious solution. It was the magic answer that set up the corner toilet that freed up needed space. And the original floor tile didn’t even get damaged! |
“Jim and his entire team were professional and great to work with.”
