In this home renovation project, Karlovec & Company built a front porch addition for a colonial home in Shaker Heights, Ohio. The result is a a gracious, welcoming entrance and improved curb appeal.
Project: | Front Porch Addition, Exterior |
Location: | Grenway Road Shaker Heights, Ohio |
Built: | c. 1925 |
Challenges: | Avoiding damage to the big tree; barrel ceiling; unusually low roof pitch for asphalt shingles. |
Features: | Extra deep, extra-large porch, Mahogany, recessed lights, ceiling fans, extra close spindle spacing for added privacy, composite columns and pilasters for added durability. |
Comments: | The barrel ceiling is key to the look. |
“The extra front to back depth makes for a super spacious porch. It’s like we have two separate living areas with one on each side of the front door.”
