This serene half bath remodeling project in Shaker Heights, Ohio features natural stone wall and floor tiles, a pedestal sink, and a mirror set in stone. Due to several fortunate coincidences this was a much less invasive bathroom project than with most homes of this age, built in this area. That allowed for upgraded materials to be used while keeping within a particular budget.
Project: | Half Bath |
Location: | Fontenay Road Shaker Heights, Ohio |
Built: | c. 1924 |
Challenges: | Replacing plumbing to the pedestal live that meets current plumbing code without a full demo; installing stone tile over existing 90+ year old tile without worrying about cracking. |
Features: | Berkshire Uptown stone tile in basket weave, 3 X 6 “Subway” and 2 X 12 chair rail |
Comments: | It has a wonderful, earthy feel in keeping with the home’s original architecture. |
“The bathroom is fabulous! Everybody has commented on the tile and the mirror. We haven’t had a single person who has ever seen a bathroom mirror framed by tile. I want to get our 2 second floor bathrooms done!
“Thanks so much! And a big thank you for once again sticking to the completion date!”
